Jewelry care

At The Dark, we create jewelry to be worn, treasured, and passed on. Our pieces are designed to last, but every material has its own nature. With a little care, your jewelry will stay as bold and timeless as the day you received it.

Everyday Care

  • Stainless Steel: Strong and resistant — handles everyday wear with ease. Just avoid harsh chemicals to keep the shine.

  • Brass: More sensitive — keep it dry and away from perfume, lotion, or sweat. Wipe gently after wearing.

  • Remove jewelry before showering, swimming, or sleeping.

  • Avoid hits on hard surfaces — especially with rings.

  • Don’t stack rings too tightly to prevent scratches or loosened stones.

Storing Your Jewelry

  • Store each piece individually in its original The Dark pouch to prevent scratches and wear.

  • Keep jewelry away from direct sunlight and moisture when not in use.

Metals

At The Dark, we work with two signature metals — stainless steel and brass. Each carries its own character and care needs, allowing you to choose the piece that matches both your style and lifestyle.

Stainless Steel (316L & 304)

  • 316L Stainless Steel: Known as surgical grade steel, it is highly resistant to tarnish, rust, and corrosion. Perfect for daily wear, even in demanding conditions.

  • 304 Stainless Steel: Durable and resistant, though slightly less than 316L. Still an excellent choice for long-lasting jewelry.

  • Both grades hold their shine with minimal care. Simply wipe with a soft cloth after wear to keep them fresh.

  • Designed to handle everyday exposure, but still avoid harsh chemicals for maximum longevity.

Brass

  • Brass has a warmer tone but is naturally more delicate than stainless steel.

  • Sensitive to moisture, sweat, perfume, and lotions — prolonged contact can cause discoloration or tarnishing.

  • To care for brass, always wipe it dry after wearing and store it properly to preserve its glow.

  • Over time, brass may develop a natural patina — some see this as part of its charm, but polishing can restore the shine.

A Final Note

Stainless steel is built to last — strong, resistant, and low-maintenance. Brass, on the other hand, is crafted for character — it needs more care but rewards you with a rich, evolving look. Whichever you choose, treat your piece with respect and it will remain a part of your story for years to come.
