JEWELRY CARE

METALS / MATERIAL

At The Dark, we craft our jewelry with high-quality materials to ensure both durability and style. Our pieces are made from two primary metals: stainless steel and brass. All of our items, with the exception of our tennis bracelets, are crafted from stainless steel grades 316L and 304, which are known for their exceptional strength and resistance to corrosion. Our tennis bracelets are made from high-quality brass.

We apply an exquisite 1-micron layer of 18k gold to many of our pieces. Please note that over time and with regular use, gold plating can naturally wear off.

Daily wear can lead to minor scratches and small dents, particularly on more substantial pieces. We consider these marks a normal part of the item's journey, not a defect. Over time, these small imperfections will blend together.

CHAINS AND BRACELET FUNCTIONALITY

Please familiarize yourself with the functionality of our locks before opening them. Never use force to open a lock, as this can damage the clasp mechanism.

To prevent bending or breaking, store your chains in a The Dark pouch or a jewelry box, and avoid letting them get tangled.

IS YOUR JEWELRY SUITABLE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN?

Our stainless steel jewelry can be used by anyone, while our brass jewelry is nickel-free. However, if you have extra-sensitive skin, it may be best to avoid brass jewelry. If you have any concerns or experience sensitivity, please contact our customer support team for further assistance.

HOW DO I PREVENT DAMAGE TO MY JEWELRY?

To keep your jewelry looking its best for years to come, some special attention is required. We advise that you avoid direct contact with water and chemical products like soaps, perfumes, and other cosmetics. These substances can dull the finish of your pieces over time.

For this reason, we recommend removing your jewelry when doing household work, exercising, or before going into a pool, sauna, or steam room. It's also best to remove your jewelry before bathing, showering, or sleeping.

With daily wear, small scratches and dents are a normal part of an item's life, especially on more substantial pieces.

WILL THE DARK JEWELRY FADE OVER TIME?

Our un-plated stainless steel pieces are highly durable and will not fade or lose their color over time, making them perfect for long-lasting wear.

For our jewelry with 18k gold plating over stainless steel, and our pieces made from brass, the color will naturally fade over time. The rate of fading depends on how often the jewelry is worn and how well it is cared for, as factors like friction and exposure to chemicals can accelerate this process.
